A Change in the Fishing Rules concerning Specimen Fish
The Committee has reviewed the weighing of fish to better evidence the process. The procedure has been amended for submitting a specimen fish claim to deal with the problem of returning fish and then getting the scales checked. The relevant advice, under Specimen Fish in the Membership Book now reads (alterations in red).
“2.Weighing procedure – A specimen fish claim form is provided within this book (see next page). Fish should be unhooked on a mat, weighed on the bank and returned to the water without delay. Evidence of the fish by means of contextual photographs and witnesses will be important when making a claim. At least one of the photographs must be contextual showing the scales used and the fish together so that the scales can be readily identified.
3.Once the fish has been weighed, witnessed and photographed and the fish is returned; the next step is to have the scales checked for accuracy. Replace the scales in their case or protect them with a cover then contact the Club Secretary, who will make the arrangements for the scales to be checked against the Club’s master scale.”
The Club has a master set of scales and weights.
