HANDY TO KNOW

Winterborne Zelston trout lake is owned by the Club and is  just a twenty-minute car ride from the centre of Wimborne. The turning for the lane through the Village to the lake is opposite the Botany Bay PH on the A31 and easily found. However, this road junction is not easy when turning out of the Village both due to its gradient and the amount and speed of traffic on the A31, so please take care.

It is a spring-fed lake which benefits from the clear, aquifer fed water.  It is open all year round but is much fished in spring and early summer, when it is at its best. It is an ideal venue for stalking the stocked rainbow trout.

By mid-summer water levels may reduce and the water temperature will rise, and in drought summers it may become unfishable.
